તક  કે  તકલીફ

આજે મળ્યાની તક મળી, તકલીફ ના ગણો.
જત વાત છે  વીત્યાની, વતેસર નહીં  ગણો.

દાવત  અમે  દીધી’તી, આવીને ઊભા આપ,
સ્‍હેજે  કરેલા  પ્યારને,   પર્યાય  નહીં  ગણો.

હૈયે   ધરીને   હામ   લીધો    હાથ   હાથમાં,
ખબર હતી  આ  હેતને, સગપણ નહીં ગણો.

માનો તો  ફરી  આજ  સજુ  પ્રેમ  પુષ્પમાળ,
ભૂલમાં  ઝર્યાં  કુસુમને,  ઝખમ  નહીં  ગણો.

સર્યો  એ  હાથ  મખમલી, આભાસ  અન્યનો,
દિલની ભીનાશ ઝરઝરે, ઝરમર  નહીં  ગણો.

ચાલ્યા  તમે   વિદાર,   અભિનવનાં  રાગમાં,
પલકોના  જલ  ચિરાગને, જલન નહીં  ગણો.

વિદાર=તોડીને વહેવું

Welcoming Ring

The young man hugs his granny, like a little boy,
as she puts a ring in his hand.
The young woman’s eyes ask, “What and why?
He says, “Darling! Let me explain.”

“As a little boy, I admired this ring on my gram’s finger.
The sparkling diamonds set amethyst around.
They blinked and winked like the smiling stars.
Grandma had said, ‘One day will come, you will fall in love.
If I like your girl, this ring will be yours.’”

   “This means that granny likes my choice.
She welcomes you, my love! The ring is yours.
You wear this ring for sparkle and shine.
This symbol of love just warms my heart.”

સ્નેહ

સ્નેહના વહેણને કોઈ શર્ત નહીં, વરસંતી વાદળીને તર્ક નહીં.
વાયરો વીંટાળે પર્ણ વ્હાલમાં, લીલા પીળાનો  કોઈ ફર્ક નહીં.

મોહના મીંઢોળ  એને  બાંધીયા, જાણીને જાન એની   જાનમાં,
ટેરવે  ગણેલ  એના વાયદા,  મન  મતિ દિલમાં  વિતર્ક નહીં.

સોળે   કળાએ  ખીલનારને,  શોભા   શૃંગાર  તણો   દર્પ  નહીં,
મંત્રમુગ્ધ   બંધાયે    પાંદડી,  છોને   મધુર   કોઈ   અર્ક  નહીં.

દરિયાદિલ  હેતના હીંડોળ  પર, હુલાવે  સૌને  ગમત  ગેલથી,
સ્નેહ  દેણ દાન ને  સ્વીકારમાં, નાતજાત ભેદ કોઈ ગર્ત નહીં.

ક્યાંનો પરિચય, શું છે સગા, પ્રશ્નો  પૂછ્યાનો  કોઈ  અર્થ  નહીં,
વીણાના તાર  સાથ  ઝણઝણે,   કોણ એ વગાડે કોઈ શર્ત નહીં.

સ્નેહાળ હ્રદય કોઈ પણ કારણોના બંધનથી પર છે.
નજીવું પાત્ર મળતા, સહજ, સરલ પ્રેમવર્ષામાં ભીંજવી દે.

એક પારેવું યાદ આવે

એક  ડાળીને  ઝૂલે  કેટલાય  પંખીડા,  ચૈતરમાં ચહેક્યા  વનરાઈમાં.
વાદળના  ફાલમાં   દેખું   સંતાતુ,   મને  એક જ  પારેવું  યાદ આવે.
ઘુઘવતા  સાગરની  લહેરો વચાળે, એક આવી મારા  ઉરને પખાળે,
જોજનની જાળ લે  મોજાની  થાપ, મને એક જ  લહરીયું યાદ આવે.

દફતર પાટીની સાથ દોડાદોડી ને  વળી ભઈલાની ગરવી દમદાટી,
પોતીકા પ્યારથી પસરાવે હાથ, પીઠે ફરતો એ એક હાથ યાદ આવે.
સરખી   સહિયરના    સોણા   સંગાથમાં,   સંતાકૂકડીના    શહેરમાં,
અર્ધા  એ  વેણમાં સમજી  લે  સાનમાં, એવી  સખી  એક યાદ  આવે.

શ્રાવણીના  મેળામાં  ટીખળ ને ટોળમાં નયણાઓ  સપના   સંવારે,
મારા આ ગાલ  જરી આજે  લજાય મને એક એ ઈશારો  યાદ આવે.
આવકાર  આલિંગન ઘડીના મેળાપ, કળી હસતી ને રડતી વિદાયે,
વીતેલી  વાતના ખુશનમ   ખાલિપામાં  એક  અશ્રુબિંદુ  યાદ  આવે,

તારા ભરપૂર  પેલી  ગંગા આકાશ, એવી  યાદો ભરપૂર  ઝિંદગાની,
ખરતા તારા સમી, ઓચિંતી યાદ  કોઈ  આવી મારી આજને ઉજાળે.

Her small self wonders, where are we going?
Hand in hand – where will grandma will take me?
The delicate face looks up into my eyes;
“Will you stay with me wherever we go?”

They started a new life, walking side by side,
Pleasing promises, the moments abide.
Once in a while a suspicious smile,
“Will you stay with me forever or not?”

Very old age, dependent upon kin,
The service and care are over, forgotten.
The wrinkled face whispers, worried,
“Will you stay with me or leave?”

I turn, look back, through a haze of tears,
My steps take me far but not forever.
I promise, my love, I shall return,
Please keep the wick fully upturned.

ભરોસો

સાવ  સુંવાળી  આંગળીઓ  આ પુખ્ત હાથને પકડે,
ક્યાં  લઈ   જાશો  પૂછી પૂછી  એ મહામાતને  ઝકડે.
કોમળ  ચહેરો   ઉપર  ઊઠીને  ઓષ્ઠ પાંદડી  ખોલે,
“નાની! જ્યાં ત્યાં જઈએ મારી સાથે તો રહેશો ને?”

સપ્તપદીના   સાત પગથીયાં અનેક વચને  જોડે,
આગળ  પાછળ  ચાલી ચાલી  જીવનરાહને  મોડે.
પ્રશ્નપ્રભાવિત નયણા મંજુલ વિરહવ્યથામાં બોલે,
“ભલે દૂર જાઓ સાજન પણ દિલમાં તો રહેશો ને?”

વર્ષોના  વહેતા  વહાણામાં   કર્યા  કામ   સૌ   વિસરે,
ઘરડી આયુ, એકલતામાં, સ્થગિત સમય ના નીસરે.
થઈ  પારેવા અહીંતહીં  ઊડે, ભલે  દૂર   જઈ  વિહરે,
“બેટા! જ્યારે જરૂર  પડે  તંઈ  સાથે  તો  રહેશો  ને?”

સંવેદનશીલ  સવાલ  પ્રિયના ત્રસ્ત તરંગ  જગાડે,
સાથે   રહેવું    કે  નહીં   એ   તો    સંજોગો   સંચારે.
અશ્રુ  ઓજલ નયનોમાં  આ  એક વચન વાંચી લે,
જરૂર  પરત આવીશ  દોડી  તું   બાંહોમાં  ખેંચી  લે.

The question is raised at the different stages in the life by different relations. The loyalty and trust are promised and delivered.

Upon Her Loss..

What do I say when you stand alone,
Forever and final saying, “So long.”
What do I say when he wanted to stay,
But death did come to take him away….

What do I say when you can’t hold hands,
Your life-long trip abruptly ends.
What do I say when tears don’t flow,
Dark inside, the lights don’t glow….

What do I say when you are so sad,
I sit so far, just feeling so bad.
The flow of grief will slowly subside,
We all are here to stand beside….

સહજ સરળ

આરજ     રજકણને     ખંખેરો,
ખાલી       માટીનો     સંચેરો,
કરતા    રહેવો    રે     સંજેરો.
મારગ  કરો   સરળ  અલબેલો.

આવળ  બાવળને  લઈ  પકડી,
સીસમ સમજી   રહી’તી  જકડી,
થયું     ભલુ    એણે    તરછોડી,
મારગ  થયો  સરળ  અલબેલો.

આંગણ  કોળ્યો  તુલસી ક્યારો,
કુમ કુમ  પગલીનો  સથવારો,
થાપણ   એને   ગણી  સંવારો,
મારગ સજ્યો સરળ  અલબેલો.

ક્ષણ,   ક્ષણની  પાછળ   દોડે,
માનુષ  મનસા    મોતી  જોડે,
જો  આ  ભ્રમણા  દોરી   તોડે,
મારગ સહજ સરળ  અલબેલો.

A Poem for Him

Since we cosigned in the race of this life cycle,
We have been two wheels of the same bicycle.

You lead me through the seven set circles,
Each has been conjured with many miracles.

The loyalty and longing intertwine hearts,
The routines and the duties tug us apart.

Your foot on the brake and steady navigation,
have guided our lives without deviation.

In life’s uphill journey, I follow when you roll,
If you slip into reverse, I cruise and control.

The push and pull, check and balance,
A keen, kind critique brings best out of me.

A good spouse, a great father and a superb grandfather,
I hope and wish the ride goes far and farther.
